8 new Partners for Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC

ACM CRC Media Team • June 5, 2024

The Australian Composites Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC) consortium has been significantly strengthened following the addition of eight new partners.

ACM CRC is helping to break down the barriers that are currently suppressing Australia’s presence in the global composites economy, such as an over-reliance on labour-intensive manufacturing, a lack of access to international supply and open markets, and high materials transport costs.

The introduction of the eight new partners (listed below) will help build on the CRC’s already strong capacity to enhance the current composites development lifecycle, from material design to product realisation. These industry and research experts will add value around the consortium’s key research priorities, which focus on transport, energy, advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0, offering specific knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

AMSL Aero Pty Ltd: zero emissions flying.

Change Climate Pty Ltd: eco-friendly bio-epoxy resin.

Compass Pools Australia: self-cleaning pool technology.

MEMKO SYSTEMS PTY LTD: extensive engineering, quality, manufacturing and management capabilities to assist advanced and highly regulated industries.

RPC Technologies Pty Ltd: the design, engineering and manufacturing of glass reinforced composite (GRP) solutions, and special fabrications.

SteberCraft Pty Ltd: manufacturing custom-made vessels for defence, government, commercial and recreational uses.

Wagners CFT Manufacturing Pty Ltd: manufacturing innovative structural fiberglass sections using a proprietary pull-winding process that can be used as a replacement for steel, aluminium, and wood in infrastructure projects or engineering applications.

University of Southern Queensland: home of the Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences, which will be leveraged for its first-class research capability in this field.

“We’re excited to welcome such a broad scope of new Partners who will help us achieve our innovation and impact targets,” said Dr Steve Gower, ACM CRC’s CEO.

“We’re striving to up-skill the country’s sovereign capacity for more valuable outcomes, and to de-risk and enable future industry access to advanced automation, simulation and digitisation.

“The projects in which these new Partners will be involved in will help us tackle the industry challenges currently faced in Australia and drive us closer to our vision – to transform Australia’s established composite technologies capability into a world-class, highly automated, digitally enabled network of designers, manufacturers and service providers.”
